Honeymoon recap: Bali, Thailand, Cambodia and now Vietnam.
From Penom Penh we caught a bus up to Siem Reap and traveled on to Vietnam via plane. We spent the next ten days of our trip in Hanoi, Hué, Hoi An and Saigon. Vietnam is an undulating ribbon of a country. Long and narrow, it looks a lot like an outline of a dragon. We started at the top, in Hanoi, took a night train down to Hué, a bus on to Hoi An and then plane down to Saigon. We pretty much did everything on the fly, planning at most a day ahead. I was unprepared for how varied Vietnam is in terrain and environment. Admittedly, my preconceptions of the country were formed mostly around lame (and occasionally not-so-lame) hollywood movies. I was delightfully surprised at how gorgeous Vietnam is. As with the environment, so too was my historical preconceptions of Vietnam, blown away by it’s breathe of history. Of all the places we traveled, Vietnam is the place I’d most like to re-visit on the back of a motorcycle. enjoy!
