it’s so depressing. in the 4 years since I’ve been here the bay has changed so much it’s not funny. i have no faith in the zoning board. I have the inside track on several different attempts to change zoning around the bay. It’s not even funny how lopsided towards the developers it is.
My friend Ro said something to the effect of: never be in love with a place as all places eventually change. Be in love with a time, you can carry that with you, when you’ve moved on.
very poetic.

Ed,
I stumbled across this photo from Yann Arthus Bertrand and reminded me of your post about gated housing communities in Vallarta. It’s a photo of Infonavit housing in Toluca : http://www.yannarthusbertrand2.org/index.php?option=com_datsogallery&Itemid=27&func=detail&catid=66&id=1548
A colleague of mine recently took part in the “Plan de Desarrollo Urbano” forums (urban development forums to change the zoning of land around the bay) and they are planning of building a further 15,000 houses, similar to the above projects, over the next 5-6 years.
If we think that PV has changed a lot with the recent tourism-housing boom I got the feeling we ain’t seen nothing yet!
Cheers,
J
