  • Add Custom Buttons To WordPress Post Editor
attention wordpress users. this is a wicked tutorial on adding your own custom buttons to the wordpress post text editor. for instance: my photo captions are a class attached to a span. i have to manual write the code each time i want to add a photo caption. with this, i can add the button and code with one click. this way i don't have to remember span class="photocaption onehorzontalmedium" everytime i want to add a caption.

  • Angry Amateurs - Swampland - TIME
Former McCain kiss-ass reporter Joe Klein stops swinging from the tire swing and goes after both McCain's old man crankiness and his campaign press guy's rampant unprofessionalism.

  • Red Bull Cola
Red Bull is coming out with a "cola". it doesn't have tuarine in it. Also, it doesn't have any high-fructose corn syrup. Halla-freakin-luiah, finally someone wised up. The caffeine comes from coffee beans and it's flavored with plant extracts including kola nut, cacao, ginger, vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon, lemon, lime and coca leaf etc… Yes, I admit, I like soda, but I *hate* pinche corn syrup. My favorite soda? "Thumbs Up". Indian soda. It's like Mexican Coke with a hint of something else. It took me 3 years of drinking it to realize the “something else” is ginger and cardamom. awesome

  • Nouriel Roubini's blog
this guy is a total pessimist when it comes to the economy, but he's been completely right so far. if you want a litmus test of how things are going, this is the guy to check. survey says: things are not looking good.
  • Dr. Doom - Profile - Nouriel Roubini - Predicting Crisis in the United States Economy - NYTimes.com
"On Sept. 7, 2006, Nouriel Roubini, an economics professor at New York University, stood before an audience of economists at the International Monetary Fund and announced that a crisis was brewing. In the coming months and years, he warned, the United States was likely to face a once-in-a-lifetime housing bust, an oil shock, sharply declining consumer confidence and, ultimately, a deep recession. He laid out a bleak sequence of events: homeowners defaulting on mortgages, trillions of dollars of mortgage-backed securities unraveling worldwide and the global financial system shuddering to a halt. These developments, he went on, could cripple or destroy hedge funds, investment banks and other major financial institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."
    know the ledge.
  • Headlines - The Morning News
TMN has a a great links list they call "Headlines" for news oriented links. If the folks at the Jon Stewart show put out a news link list, it'd look like this. it even has an rss feed. I've been reading it over the past month or so, and it has grown to be one of my morning coffee musts. go grab it.

  • Oh No He Didn't! | Amy Stein's blog
"At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt." - McCain to his wife Cindy. Imagine if Obama had said this at any point in his life, in front of a reporter. At some point we have to collectively, publicly admit that there is a double standard with which the press treats McCain and Obama. McCain is a dirty old grinch yet the press never mentions this fact and despite repeated, consistent out bursts, press just shrug it off. What happens if an elected president (the oldest ever & in war time) starts to develop dementia?

  • DestroyFlickr | Adobe Air-based app for viewing Flickr
the dark grey background and the full screen view are killer. It's a bit disorientating at first, but I gotta say, over the half-hour it took to learn how to use this thing, I viewed exponentially more photos than I could with Flickr's site. total score!
  • I Can't See You, I Can't See You
TPM on the wesley clark's statements about McCain on Sunday. i just can't believe how republicans can continually shape the national debate in their own terms. and rather than calling bullshit, obama throws another one of his supporters under the bus.

  • New paper: fast food doesn't make you fat. When eating…
i'm calling bull. fast food does make you fat. it's intensely over processed. full of corn syrup, fat, chemicals etc… the only way that fast food could have the same caloric content as home cooked food, is if you cook crap at home as well.

  • Threadless: "the customer is the company"
Threadless makes $30 million in sales a year with 30% profit margin. You know a ton of great illustrators and designers, how come none of them submit their stuff to Threadless? is $2000 a good price for a design? i don’t know, but 30% profit margin seems a bit high for people who make their money selling other people’s submitted designs. again, i could be wrong, i’m just trying to work this out in my noggin.
